Narrative Writing.

My Eating Friend

Climbing into the shower hoping that these hot water left, feeling the cold wind flowing down my back, hearing my brothers Yelling at me to hop out of the shower “BANG BANG” on the door. I was looking out the shower window taking one step onto the bathroom flora and then suddenly I hear a big fat ROAR!, looking out the shower curtain and seeing a alarming out of site tiger thinking I should run for my life but then I slowly backed against the wall frighten out of my brained trying to think of a solution.

Having a quiet moment to myself trying not to panic and then my light switches then suddenly it pops out of my hind, thinking in my head i'm struggling for ideas. Looking out the curtain and looking straight at the beasts beady eyes, then he open his mouth I think to take a breath and then it comes towards me with its sharp pointy claws then I yell until my lungs could not take it, even knowing that I could not escape made me yell louder and louder. Giving me a big open smile and putting his big jaws over my face and his saliva dribbled all down my neck and onto my shoulders and suddenly he eats me into one bite and my family didn’t realise that I was gone until the next morning.

My Weekly Poem

WALT read a poem and analyse the language features of a poem.

Your smile ignites my heart like the candles on a cake.
Casting light on so many hopes and wishes.
Like the paper around your presents, I’ll wrap you in my arms.
Offering my gift of love that’s all yours.
You lift my spirits like a balloon, and I am guided by the winds of your love.
There’s no needle sharp enough to deflate this feeling.
On your birthday, know that you mean the world to me.
And if I may make your wish for you,
May happiness always find us
Let a smile never leave your lips
And may our love always keep us together.

1. Summarise the poem you have read in your own words.
  • The poem I read this week is about....
My poem that I have being learning today is about birthdays, the birthday poem is about what it means and what people think about you when you were born
into their lifes, they also will grant me wishes and hope for my life ahead.
2. Identify at least 2 different language features in the poem and give examples. You can identify more than 2 language features.

  • One of the language features in this poem is a _____. Here is an example of this language feature...
Has Simile,Metaphors,Adjectives,Nouns and Verbs.
  • Another language feature in this poem is a _____ .Here is an example of this language feature...
Feeling are involved and wishing the birthday person hopes for the future.

3. Evaluate (which means reflect and give your opinion) the author’s purpose for writing this poem - in your answers include the words: inform, entertain, persuade.

  • By analysing the poem I have read this week I think the author wrote this poem
because the author was trying to write a poem about what kind of people your family is about and what they wish for on your birthday.
  • The author was informing the audience about... what kind of birthday you should have even if your family had made it.
  • The author was entertaining the audience by... (emotions/language features) talking about what kind of family and love they have between them and their family.
  • The author is trying to persuade the audience to think/believe/reflect...
because she wanted the audience to think that her poem was interesting and to reflect on the poem so they could comment on the poem wit good advice and good support.

4. Add a picture on your Doc related to your poem.

5. Share your poetry work with a buddy.

6. Share your poetry work on your blog. Don’t forget to DOUBLE, TRIPLE CHECK your work before you publish it.
